Ecumenical Centre for Justice and Peace ECJP is a Faith Non-Governmental Organization located in Benue State North Central Nigeria, it was established in 1996 with a vision to ensure peace and security in Nigeria, especially among the neglected rural and urban communities in Nigeria.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Nathan Nyitar Inyom is the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Makurdi, Nigeria. He is the founder and chairman of the Ecumenical Centre for Justice and Peace.

What does ECJP do?

ECJP’s main objective is to promote peace, Security, and Justice, especially among the neglected rural and urban communities to enhance democratic principles and wholistic development in Nigeria. Their main activities include peacebuilding and conflict resolution, community development, advocacy for good governance, Health Education/HIV counseling and Testing, and Trauma Healing.

How much does ECJP pay?

The average salary for an ECJP staff is unspecified however, the salary rate applies not below the Statutory minimum wage established by the Nigerian Labor Congress.

  1. Canadian Development Fund (CDF)-Initial take-off grant (1998)USAID-OTI-Support to train opinion/community leaders on land & chieftaincy matters in Benue State (2000)
  2. British Council-Also gave support to train religious, traditional/community leaders in Benue State (2000)
  3. Partners for Development-Gave ECJP Support to improve rural feeder roads in five communities (2001)
  4. International Centre for AIDS Treatment & Care Programs (ICAP), supported ECJP in implementing OVC, Home Based Care/palliative care, HIV Counseling, and referral linkages within the communities of Benue State.
  5. Enhancing Nigeria’s Capacity for AIDS Prevention (ENCAP) supported ECJP for HIV Service Delivery in Communities of Benue State.
  6. Health Alive Foundation (HAF) supported ECJP community TB care, Referral, and Linkages at DOT centers.
